Lockdown has led to us finding many new hobbies. Stick and pokes being one of them. Here's some advice before you choose to create one.
Stick-and-pokes don’t require any electrical tools, meaning they’re affordable and easy to do when you’re bored at home.
The technique lends itself to dot work or simple patterns, but styles range widely, depending on your experience. We recommend starting with something simple first.
The best part about stick and pokes is that they are all handcrafted (check out our hand poke tool to help!) and made without the help of electricity. Personally, we love that aspect! It's similar to pen on paper or brush on canvas—it’s a primitive act. That's why the designs you create have a deep and unique character.
There’s something beautiful and special when you’re able to feel every poke of the needle. There’s a sense of accomplishment when you know you’ve earned every little dot in the design.
Granted, they take longer than using an electric machine, but the attention to detail and rewarding process makes it all worth it in the end.
The stick and poke community is really special. If you'd like to become a part of it, visit our website.
