Have you always been a tattoo artist?
Tattoos or body mod have always been a part of my life. I got my first tattoo when I was just 15 years old (I never regretted it although it’s a bit trashy, because it’s a rose with a skull). Why do you prefer hand-poking to machine tattooing?
I like the way hand-poking creates a piece of art out of many tiny dots made by hand. It’s like meditation, nothing makes me as calm as it does. And the fact that it’s less painful and the tattoos are healing much faster is a big plus for my clients. I had many clients who got their first tattoo by me, because they were scared of the pain of machine tattooing.
What would you recommend to someone who wanted to start tattooing?
Try to educate yourself as good as possible before you even touch a needle. Get some good stuff, find a sterile workspace and be patient, all in good time.
Do you have any tips or tricks when it comes to hand poke tattooing?
Stay calm and take the time you need, you’re not a machine and you don’t need to rush.
